We recently received the fantastic news that Autotuner have finally developed reading and writing of both the Simos 19.6 ECU and DQ381 TCU. This essentially means that we are now able to tune the engine and gearbox for all vehicles that run on the Mk8 Golf R platform.

Expectations
We can offer our tuning solutions for the 2.0TFSI engine on the Mk8 platform. On the Mk7 platform, we saw over 370bhp just from stage 1 ECU tuning. We covered this particular tune here and it’s safe to say we will see similar (potentially better) results on the MK8 platform.
Release Date
Autotuner have this particular protocol being released to everyone at no cost in 6 months time (circa March 2023 at the time of writing). However, tuners can pay to have early access to this feature via preorder and it will be released under early access on the 28th of September 2022.
Whilst the option to pay for early access has caused quite a stir amongst the tuning community (as Autotuner is advertised as a ‘free updates for life’ solution) we’re still super excited to be one of the first companies globally to be able to offer our customers a tuning solution for this platform.
How To Book Your Car In
If you own a related vehicle mentioned above, we’ll be able to offer tuning solutions as of the 28th of September 2022. We’ve built a dedicated webpage for our customers to register their interest here.
